Rand's recovery cuts pricesTHOMAS SCOTT THE strengthening of the rand against the dollar means that Apple Computer is able to reduce prices across its entire range of products by up to 10 percent, says Brian Seligmann, marketing manager at Apple. "The steady appreciation of the rand is making it possible for us to pass immediate savings on to our customers. "From November, an iMac will sell for R10 899 including VAT, down by almost 10 percent from R11 899. Similar savings will be seen on all Power Macintosh G3 and PowerBook G3 notebook computers. "An iMac is a complete SoHo solution - it ships with a high speed processor, large capacity disk drive, CD-ROM, internal 56kb modem, 38cm monitor, full stereo sound, Mac OS operating system and a full suite of office and Internet e-mail and browsing software," says Seligmann.
