New web site drives quick deals on wheels
From next year you will be able to order a car on line, writes GREG GORDONSOON you'll be able to buy a car over the Internet. The Internet Solution was recently commissioned to redesign the Hyundai Motor Distributors web site. The site went live recently and will soon be one of the first e-commerce-enabled business-to-consumer sites in SA. From January visitors will be able to order cars on line, with real-time access to car finance - and the company promises delivery the next day.The site is attractive, fun to surf, and makes it easy for customers to deal with Hyundai. The manufacturer will benefit from a more efficient, automated and personalised customer interface. Patrick Barbeau, webmaster for Hyundai, says: "Although it is a work in progress, the site is already interactive with extensive information and interactivity. Because the Flash system was used we can carry rich animated graphic content. "The site also uses Flash Generator software which is new to South Africa, and allows for dynamic updating of text-based content within animations by Hyundai itself, without the code having to be recompiled by The Internet Solution (IS). IS e-commerce account executive Garth Galbraith says managing the project has been particularly exciting due to the cutting-edge technology. Galbraith says: "The challenge with using and developing the on-line purchasing function and Flash Generator for the first time is that they make it difficult to foretell how long things will take to complete." The e-mail referral service allows visitors to pass on customer leads to Hyundai and earn R300 for every referral resulting in a sale. A useful feature will be the showroom, where visitors can scan the exterior and interior of each model. The showroom will provide other information such as a comparogram to weigh Hyundai vehicles against other vehicles in similar categories. The wealth of information on the web site includes referrals, dealership information, safety features, parts on-line purchases, service and test-drive bookings, entertainment, communications, an education centre, the ability to subscribe to Hyundai's Yes! magazine, a "contact us" link and all Hyundai products. News, articles and media releases with photographs will also be accessible. In the motorsport section visitors can purchase accessories with their credit cards while viewing conversions on offer.
