Packages tailored to fit all needs
IT IS all very well buying an accounting software system off the shelf, but the needs of individual businesses vary significantly. For this reason, Brilliant Business Systems has a modifications department where accounting packages can be tweaked to fit the unique needs of companies.
Says sales director Pete Whalley: "Because of the individual personality of each business, reports, projections, order entries and processing are different for every company. We have customers who use Brilliant Accounting in businesses which specialise in anything from fixing lawnmowers to selling medical supplies. The package may require some enhancements to give customers the freedom to do what they require. Our department makes those fine adjustments, or even creates add-on modules, to handle wider needs. We organise everything and do all on-site installation.
"What our modifications team is able to do is design systems around the basic accounting package that can help streamline other aspects of a business.
"Often, when a business buys so-called generic software, there are a few nuances that don't fit. For convenience we are able to add features that are critical to particular businesses. That kind of convenience is what sets us apart."
Whalley says the procedure is fairly straightforward. Any Brilliant Accounting user can get in touch with the company and request a modification. Consultants from Brilliant will analyse the company's needs and determine what modifications will best suit the business.
"Sometimes this involves an entire reshaping of a business for the better. Because businesses rely so heavily on their accounting systems for day-to-day operations, we can use it as a foundation to make their entire business process more efficient.
"What we have done is turn an accounting software package into an effective business management tool. Company decision-makers can see, at a glance, the status of their books, stock and goods on order. This gives them tremendous planning resources. Decisions that usually take hours can be made in seconds. That's the real value of an effective accounting solution."
