The big spenders

UNILEVER is the SABC's biggest advertising spender, both on radio and TV.

Not surprisingly, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies dominate the list of big spenders. Proctor & Gamble - like Unilever, a manufacturer of soap, toothpaste and other consumables - is another big advertiser. SA Breweries is a major advertiser on both TV and radio, and Rembrandt's cigarette brands are extensively advertised on radio, but not TV.

Chicken Licken, pharmaceutical firm Smith Klein Beecham and Standard Bank are big radio advertisers.

On TV, motor manufacturers and financial institutions are major advertisers, as are the FMCG companies.

Discounts, based on the historical and projected spending of the advertiser, can be negotiated.
